SIP SIP came into existence 2009 as a result of a number of smaller groups congregating at a house on Red River for a jam session. Members from Mother Falcon, Corduroi, and PowerNap made up the original summer lineup under the moniker 'The Summertime Band'. Over the next couple years they have accumulated a variety of other band members from diverse musical backgrounds, ranging from folk and orchestral to electronic rock and cool jazz. Now the number of members is well over a dozen, with seasonal lineup changes due to particular educational obligations. SIP SIP has performed at both Wild Frontier Fests, as well as many Skank Family Collective showcases,RAW PAW's Ditch the Fests 4 and 5, Art Outside at Apache Pass, and a number of venues downtown including Red 7, Antones, Beauty Ballroom, Emo's, The Parish, Stubb's and the Mohawk. SIP SIP's sound can be described as a blend of electronic groove, jazz horns, rock, group vocals and crowd participation. Shows are high energy performances that invite the audience to join the band in the moment and dance their faces off.
